How the Lead-to-Meeting gate works

How the Lead-to-Meeting Engine grades an inbound lead before offering a rep's calendar: five weighted signals into a 0–100 score, and an authority/timeline gate where no budget authority caps the verdict at NURTURE — which is how a lead scoring 79 still isn't BOOK NOW, because a perfect-fit lead with no one who can say yes isn't a booked meeting yet.

How the gate works

This tool grades an inbound lead before you offer a rep's calendar. Each control is marked from your own evidence and weighted into a 0–100 score — and then the score is run past a gate that can only make the verdict worse.

No budget authority OR no near-term timeline caps the verdict at NURTURE — it can't be BOOK NOW regardless of the score. Both missing caps it at DECLINE. A perfect-fit lead with no one who can say yes isn't a meeting yet.

In the worked sample it scores 79 out of 100 and still reads NURTUREFit, intent, and recency are strong — score 79, which reads BOOK NOW on the numbers. But there's no budget authority (0), and the gate caps any lead with no authority at NURTURE: a great-fit lead with no one who can say yes isn't a booked meeting yet. The one thing to fix first: Authority / budget reach — it's at 0, so the lead caps at NURTURE no matter how well it fits. Get to a decision-maker with budget before offering a slot..

Common questions

Can something score well on the How the Lead-to-Meeting gate works and still fail?

Yes. The weighted score is run past a worsen-only gate — the Authority / timeline gate — that can only make the verdict worse. In the worked sample it scores 79 out of 100 and still reads NURTURE, because fit, intent, and recency are strong — score 79, which reads BOOK NOW on the numbers. But there's no budget authority (0), and the gate caps any lead with no authority at NURTURE: a great-fit lead with no one who can say yes isn't a booked meeting yet.

What is a worsen-only gate?

A dispositive rule that can only lower a verdict, never raise it. One fatal flaw overrides an otherwise-good score, because a single disqualifying gap shouldn't hide behind a high average. The tool also names the one thing to fix first — here, "Authority / budget reach — it's at 0, so the lead caps at NURTURE no matter how well it fits. Get to a decision-maker with budget before offering a slot.".
