How the Attribution Integrity Ledger gate works

How the Attribution Integrity Ledger grades a marketing attribution report on 6 documentation signals: a reconciliation gate forces a distinct BLACK BOX verdict — outside the score bands — when a deal's credit doesn't sum to 100%, which is how a report scoring 69, reading LEAKY on paper, is floored to BLACK BOX because one deal double-counts to 115%.

How the gate works

This tool grades a marketing attribution report's integrity, not its accuracy. Each control is marked from your own evidence and weighted into a 0–100 score — and then the score is run past a gate that can only make the verdict worse.

Every deal's credit must sum to 100% (plus or minus 0.5%) across its touchpoints, and every touchpoint must have fired a rule. Either failure floors the verdict to BLACK BOX regardless of the documentation score - the gate checks the ledger's arithmetic, not what the marks say about it.

In the worked sample it scores 69 out of 100 and still reads BLACK BOXThe documentation marks alone score 69/100 - model declared and the method is deterministic, but data completeness, version-pinning, and credit reconciliation are only partially documented. That reads LEAKY on paper. But Acme Corp's actual ledger sums to 115% across two touchpoints (40% webinar-30day plus 75% last-touch) - a double-count. A report whose credit doesn't reconcile is a dashboard estimate, not a calculation, so the gate floors it to BLACK BOX. The one thing to fix first: Fix the double-counted Acme Corp touchpoint (webinar-30day 40% + last-touch 75% = 115%, not 100%) so the ledger reconciles. Fix first: credit reconciles..

Common questions

Can something score well on the How the Attribution Integrity Ledger gate works and still fail?

Yes. The weighted score is run past a worsen-only gate — the Reconciliation gate — that can only make the verdict worse. In the worked sample it scores 69 out of 100 and still reads BLACK BOX, because the documentation marks alone score 69/100 - model declared and the method is deterministic, but data completeness, version-pinning, and credit reconciliation are only partially documented.

What is a worsen-only gate?

A dispositive rule that can only lower a verdict, never raise it. One fatal flaw overrides an otherwise-good score, because a single disqualifying gap shouldn't hide behind a high average. The tool also names the one thing to fix first — here, "Fix the double-counted Acme Corp touchpoint (webinar-30day 40% + last-touch 75% = 115%, not 100%) so the ledger reconciles. Fix first: credit reconciles.".

Grades a report's documentation and arithmetic integrity, not its accuracy. Doesn't validate the attribution model's underlying assumptions and scores no person.
