Tool Gate · How it works
How the AEDT Deployer Compliance Dossier gate works
How the AEDT Deployer Compliance Dossier grades an automated hiring tool: six weighted controls and a two-trigger gate (no independent bias audit, or no candidate notice) that forces NOT DEFENSIBLE — which is how the sample scores 76 and still fails.
How the gate works
This tool grades whether you could defend an automated hiring tool (AEDT) before a regulator or candidate. Each control is marked from your own evidence and weighted into a 0–100 score — and then the score is run past a gate that can only make the verdict worse.
The 6 weighted controls
| Control | Weight |
|---|---|
| Independent bias audit on file | 24 |
| Pre-use candidate notice delivered | 20 |
| Audit summary published | 16 |
| Human review & appeal path | 14 |
| Recordkeeping & retention | 14 |
| Data-source & proxy governance | 12 |
| Total | 100 |
The verdict bands
No independent bias audit, OR candidates never notified, forces NOT DEFENSIBLE — regardless of the score.
In the worked sample it scores 76 out of 100 and still reads NOT DEFENSIBLE — Every other control is in place, but there is no independent bias audit — the load-bearing defense against a discrimination claim. The one thing to fix first: Commission an independent bias audit (vendor self-attestation doesn't count).
Common questions
Can something score well on the AEDT Deployer Compliance Dossier and still fail?
Yes. The weighted score is run past a worsen-only gate — the Two-trigger gate — that can only make the verdict worse. In the worked sample it scores 76 out of 100 and still reads NOT DEFENSIBLE, because every other control is in place, but there is no independent bias audit — the load-bearing defense against a discrimination claim.
What is a worsen-only gate?
A dispositive rule that can only lower a verdict, never raise it. One fatal flaw overrides an otherwise-good score, because a high average can hide a single disqualifying gap. The tool also names the one thing to fix first — here, "Commission an independent bias audit (vendor self-attestation doesn't count)".
A readiness aid that grades the deployer's evidence — not a bias audit, certification, or legal advice.
