How the Vendor ISO-42001 Procurement Evidence Scrutiny Kit gate works

How the Vendor ISO-42001 Procurement Evidence Scrutiny Kit reads a vendor's evidence packet as the weakest of six signals: an unconfirmable-evidence gate forces REJECTED when the accredited certificate and its scope can't both be confirmed — so a packet that looks complete is still not acceptable.

How the gate works

This tool grades a vendor's claimed ISO/IEC 42001 conformity evidence against six controls before you rely on it. Each of 6 signals is scored 0–2 from your own evidence; the verdict is the weakest one — and then it is run past a gate that can only make the verdict worse.

The 6 signals

SignalRole
Accredited certificate on file (gate control)signal
Scope covers the AI system you are buying (gate control)signal
Certification body is accreditedsignal
Certificate current, surveillance up to datesignal
Independent audit evidence beyond the badgesignal
AI sub-processor / supply-chain coveragesignal

The verdict bands

ACCEPTED
every control is full at 2/2 — evidence you can rely on
VERIFY FIRST
the weakest control is a 1 — evidence exists but a link is unconfirmed
REJECTED
any control is absent (0), or both gate controls are below full at once
Unconfirmable-evidence gate · worsen-only

Two of the six are gate controls: whether the certificate's accreditation is confirmed, and whether its scope covers the system you are buying. If BOTH are below full at the same time the vendor is REJECTED no matter how strong the other four controls are — you can confirm neither that the certificate is real nor that it covers your system, and evidence you cannot confirm on either axis is not evidence. Confirm either axis in writing and the gate releases.

In the worked sample mean 1.67 / 2 (weakest 1) and it still reads REJECTEDBeacon Analytics carries four full controls — an accredited body, a current certificate, an audit report, and governed sub-processors — and a 1.67 mean, so the weakest control is only a 1, which alone would read VERIFY FIRST. But both gate controls sit at 1 at once: accreditation is unconfirmed and scope coverage is unconfirmed. With neither axis verifiable, the gate forces REJECTED regardless of the four strong controls — the same vendor rises to VERIFY FIRST the moment it confirms scope. The one thing to fix first: Accredited certificate on file — confirm the certificate is a full third-party certificate verifiable on the issuer's public register; it is the leftmost unconfirmed gate control, and confirming either gate axis in writing releases the rejection..

Common questions

Can a profile look clean on the How the Vendor ISO-42001 Procurement Evidence Scrutiny gate works and still fail?

Yes. The verdict is the weakest of 6 signals, then run past a worsen-only gate — the Unconfirmable-evidence gate — that can only make it worse. In the worked sample mean 1.67 / 2 (weakest 1) and it still reads REJECTED, because beacon Analytics carries four full controls — an accredited body, a current certificate, an audit report, and governed sub-processors — and a 1.67 mean, so the weakest control is only a 1, which alone would read VERIFY FIRST. But both gate controls sit at 1 at once: accreditation is unconfirmed and scope coverage is unconfirmed. With neither axis verifiable, the gate forces REJECTED regardless of the four strong controls — the same vendor rises to VERIFY FIRST the moment it confirms scope.

What is a worsen-only gate?

A dispositive rule that can only lower a verdict, never raise it. One fatal flaw overrides an otherwise-clean sheet, because a single disqualifying gap shouldn't hide behind everything that passed. The tool also names the one thing to fix first — here, "Accredited certificate on file — confirm the certificate is a full third-party certificate verifiable on the issuer's public register; it is the leftmost unconfirmed gate control, and confirming either gate axis in writing releases the rejection.".

Grades the procurement evidence you assemble, offline — not an audit, a certification, a conformity assessment, or legal advice. It scores evidence, never people; confirm any certificate on the issuing body's public register.
