Tool Gate · How it works

How the Deal Momentum Tripwire gate works

How the Deal Momentum Tripwire grades one open deal on 5 weighted signals — stakeholders, response latency, stage age, days since touch, and cadence — into a 0–100 score: a ghost-deal gate floors any lone-contact deal that has outlived its stage to DEAD WEIGHT regardless of score, which is how the sample deal scores 57 and still reads DEAD WEIGHT.

How the gate works

This tool grades a single open deal's real forward motion, not just its stage. Each control is marked from your own evidence and weighted into a 0–100 score — and then the score is run past a gate that can only make the verdict worse.

Ghost-deal gate · worsen-only

A deal with 1 or fewer engaged stakeholders whose time in stage has passed 1.5x your median stage length is forced to DEAD WEIGHT regardless of score - a lone-contact deal that has outlived its stage doesn't close.

In the worked sample it scores 57 out of 100 and still reads DEAD WEIGHTThis deal scores 57, which would normally read STALLING. But it has only 1 engaged stakeholder and has sat in stage 1.7x your median (34 days vs. a 20-day median) - the ghost-deal gate floors it to DEAD WEIGHT regardless of the raw score. The one thing to fix first: Multi-thread now: earn a second buy-side contact this week, or advance/disqualify the deal at your next stage gate..

Common questions

Can something score well on the How the Deal Momentum Tripwire gate works and still fail?

Yes. The weighted score is run past a worsen-only gate — the Ghost-deal gate — that can only make the verdict worse. In the worked sample it scores 57 out of 100 and still reads DEAD WEIGHT, because this deal scores 57, which would normally read STALLING. But it has only 1 engaged stakeholder and has sat in stage 1.7x your median (34 days vs. a 20-day median) - the ghost-deal gate floors it to DEAD WEIGHT regardless of the raw score.

What is a worsen-only gate?

A dispositive rule that can only lower a verdict, never raise it. One fatal flaw overrides an otherwise-good score, because a single disqualifying gap shouldn't hide behind a high average. The tool also names the one thing to fix first — here, "Multi-thread now: earn a second buy-side contact this week, or advance/disqualify the deal at your next stage gate.".
