How the Wealth-Transfer Exposure Radar gate works

How the Wealth-Transfer Exposure Radar scores a book's continuity — then an aging-book trigger forces EXPOSED when a large share of assets sits with aging clients whose heirs aren't engaged, so a middling score still reads exposed when the concentration is in transfer-risk relationships.

How the gate works

This tool grades how much of an advisory book is in transfer motion and how well the at-risk AUM is covered by an engaged next generation. Each control is marked from your own evidence and weighted into a 0–100 score — and then the score is run past a gate that can only make the verdict worse.

A material household — 15% or more of the book — in an imminent age band (75+) with no heir named forces EXPOSED regardless of the score. One imminent, concentrated, unengaged relationship can walk out the door the moment it changes hands, and a flattering average shouldn't hide it. The trigger releases the instant that household names and engages an heir, and the book goes back to reading by its score.

In the worked sample it scores 55 out of 100 and still reads EXPOSEDThe book scores 55 — an AGING number on the score alone — because 21% of the AUM is in transfer motion and only 25% of that at-risk pool is covered by an engaged heir. But the Harmon Family holds 16% of the book, is 85+, and has no heir named. That single material, imminent, unengaged household forces EXPOSED regardless of score. Engaging that one heir clears the trigger and lifts the whole book to SECURE. The one thing to fix first: Heir coverage — engage the Harmon Family's heir first: the 85+ household holds 16% of the book with no heir named, and engaging its heir removes the most uncovered, in-motion AUM per action while clearing the aging-book trigger..

Common questions

Can something score well on the How the Wealth-Transfer Exposure Radar works and still fail?

Yes. The weighted score is run past a worsen-only gate — the Aging-book trigger — that can only make the verdict worse. In the worked sample it scores 55 out of 100 and still reads EXPOSED, because the book scores 55 — an AGING number on the score alone — because 21% of the AUM is in transfer motion and only 25% of that at-risk pool is covered by an engaged heir. But the Harmon Family holds 16% of the book, is 85+, and has no heir named. That single material, imminent, unengaged household forces EXPOSED regardless of score. Engaging that one heir clears the trigger and lifts the whole book to SECURE.

What is a worsen-only gate?

A dispositive rule that can only lower a verdict, never raise it. One fatal flaw overrides an otherwise-good score, because a single disqualifying gap shouldn't hide behind a high average. The tool also names the one thing to fix first — here, "Heir coverage — engage the Harmon Family's heir first: the 85+ household holds 16% of the book with no heir named, and engaging its heir removes the most uncovered, in-motion AUM per action while clearing the aging-book trigger.".

Scores the book, never a person. A deterministic, offline planning aid — it connects to nothing, values nothing, and does not score or rank people, nor is it for any employment, credit, or client-suitability decision. Not legal, tax, or investment advice; confirm every plan with the client and their estate counsel.
